The Baruch swim teams hosted their first home event of the season on Friday night at the ARC Aquatic Center.
The women defeated the New Jersey Institute of Technology (54-37), but lost a heart-breaker to St. Joseph's of Long Island (49-46). The men lost to the New Jersey Institute of Technology (103-90).
The top women's highlights on the evening consisted of Daniela Sepulveda (Middletown, NY/Goshen Central), Christina Cruz (East Elmhurst, NY/W.C. Bryant), Irina Skripnik (Brooklyn, NY/Fort Hamilton), and Joyce Hsu (New York, NY/Washington Irving) winning the 200 Yard Free Relay.
Sepulveda also won the 800 Yard Freestyle.
The men hung tough with N.J.I.T. behind the efforts of Tony Zhang (College Point, NY/Bronx Science) winning the 100 Yard Backstroke & Brian Llido (Staten Island, NY/Monsignor Farrell) winning the 400 Yard Free Style.
Llido & Zhang also teamed with freshman Cory Ng (Brooklyn, NY/Bronx Science) and Michael Wursthorn (Middle Village, NY/Archbishop Molloy) to win the 200 Yard Medley Relay.
Baruch will enjoy a short break and resume competing on November 12 with a non-conference meet at William Paterson University.
